My friend's House in Behshahr
Behshahr

From Namakabrod to Behshahr, there is about 4 hours driving way that lies on the bank of Caspian Sea. Whole the road was highway and was built after the Revolution of 1979.
We passed through many cities which had their own specific historical features. For the lack of time, we couldn’t stop in each city to take photos. But for an example, I can mention FarahAbad which is located in Sari.
Behshahr is about 15 km away from the Sea and it is near the Gorgan Gulf.
Miyankale, that is situated in Behshahr, is one of the famous preserved areas of Iran and hosts many migratory birds from Siberia or Europe.
We took our photos at sunset there, so the qualities of them are different from the others.
We stayed in Miyankale all the night. The night that I never forget it whole my life. Away from the air and sound pollution of the cities like Tehran; we just heard the birds and animals sounds; I heard the sound of the Nature; I smelt the smell of Lagoon, although it was bad but it was tolerable.
Historically, Behshahr is one of the ancient places in the world; where we can find the trace of the cavemen who were settled in some caves like Kamarband and Huto (about 5000 BC). Unfortunately, we couldn’t visit those caves because of a lack of suitable paths and appropriate conditions of visiting there.
In Behshahr, there were many buildings (monuments) like SafiAbad Palace (as you can see in photos) that is under the supervision of the Military, so it is not for public visiting.
One of the most famous and attractive parts of Behshahr is “the historical complex of AbbasAbad” that is one of the important complexes in Iran.
This complex is about 530 hectares and consists of: a layered and stair garden, dam, four vault building, the reservoire of the dam, the bath building, water distribution station, two brick-work towers for breaking pressure of water, the presumable place of the Palace (which is still being dig), pavement paths, watermill, industrial centres such as workplaces for baking earthenware (ceramic) and tiles of the roofs.
King Abbas I ordered Iranian engineers to construct this complex, simultaneously with the construction of Ashraf-ol-Belad city.
When we entered this complex, we saw the president of the archaeology centre of the city, Mr Mosavi PhD, who guided us and explained the whole complex.
Through his explanations, we understood that “this lake is an ancient dam”, which its external hatchways are exactly under the four vault building and water came to this dam from upper springs. And those two towers were constructed to control the pressure of the incoming water. The farms surrounded by the Lake are watered by artificial channels which came through the Lake.
The irrigating system of the garden that was made of ceramic pipes was the most interesting parts of the complex; as you can see in photos some parts of the ceramic pipes remain.
In above photos, you can see some archaeologists groups who are working there.
Such a kind of dam construction in this Lake can be found in Tabriz, Azarbaijan of Iran. There is an area in Tabriz which is called “Shahgoli” or “ILGOLI”,that is exemplified of this lake, but few centuries later.
The last, but the most interesting part of this area was the dishes from China that were discovered there; this shows the fact of commercial exchanges and trades between this part of Iran and China.
