This is the oldest district in Bangkok since Chinese merchants moved to this area in the early 1780s when the city was founded.
If you are looking for a great selection of street food in Bangkok, this is definitely the right place! Yaowarat or China town is a street of life, it's a nice way to experience the lifestyle of local chinese while walking along the street and trying different kind of food and dessert. My favourite restaurants here are the seafood restaurant located at the corners of the soi. It is easily to be noticed as it's always full of people and the restaurant is just located on both of the corners facing to each other. I thought they were not the same restaurant but actually they are. Also don't forget to try "Kuay Jub Nam Sai" just 50 metres straight away from the seafood restaurant, this place only have few tables so be patient to wait
